GOOD LUCK to all our small but valiant ICENI Taekwon-do students travelling to Ryton-on-Dunsmore Nr Coventry this weekend to compete in the GTUK BRITISH TAEKWON-DO CHAMPIONSHIPS … on SATURDAY Nov 19th 2022

Small But Mighty – ICENI Taekwon-do Club Students November 22 Grading
ICENI Taekwon-do club have struggled with illness and injury over the last 6 months, but on Monday 7th November, a ‘small but mighty group’ of students attended their belt grading and achieved 100% pass!
Examiner Mr Gillett VI (6th Dan), congratulated the students and the club for their determination and indomitable spirit, to keep going through what have been difficult times since the covid lock downs and on-going virus.
This grading proved that ICENI Taekwon-do club has very strong Traditional Taekwon-do roots, with experienced honourable instructors who are always supported by their loyal and hardworking Black belts, ready to teach willing students of all ages and abilities.
The attending students worked hard and displayed their Taekwon-do skills over the 2 hour session, showing techniques, patterns, sparring and self defence. All were rewarded with a brand new belt, presented by Mr Gillett VI, and promotion to the next syllabus.
If anyone would like to join and learn about Taekwon-do Self Defence, now is a good time, with the offer of 4 Free Sessions and a Free T-shirt when you join the club.
At ICENI Taekwon-do we teach our students how to defend themselves using their arms, legs, hands and feet.
Each technique is taught in traditional military fashion, with discipline and respect.
Over time the repetition of technique creates speed, accuracy and power.
The stances we teach utilise the movement of body-mass to maximise power in our techniques.
With continued training, students gain a higher level of fitness, building confidence, and a better understanding of their Taekwon-do skills and how to apply them.
Each accomplished student also learns that with great power comes great responsibility.
Most importantly, to achieve any level of skill takes dedication and commitment to regular training.

Another busy week is coming up for ICENI Taekwon-do Club, some of our students will be heading off to Coventry on 1st October to attend the national Black Belt grading.
It takes years of hard work and regular training to prepare for a Black Belt grading. This is the ultimate test of technique, ability and knowledge in front of our Grandmaster, Masters and Seniors, who monitor the test throughout the day.
Our other students will be continuing their preparation for our upcoming colour belt grading, which is part of the journey towards a Black Belt.
We always welcome new members all the time, with the hope they will be future Black Belts 🥋 Please remember, Taekwon-do is a serious martial art suitable for all ages to learn… but it is usually ADULTS and VETERANS that get the most out of it!! 👍

A huge thank you goes to our valiant ICENI Taekwon-do students and welfare officers, who spent hours and hours umpiring at the OPEN ITF event in Coventry at the weekend.
They travelled for 3 hours to attend, and then umpired on the mats, with over 450 competitors, doing patterns and sparring, round after round, 2 at a time… A totally draining and exhausting experience, so much so, it selflessly effected their own performances very late in the day, all missing out on the medals for the 1st time in our clubs history!
Then after a gruelling day, driving back to the east of England and arriving home in the very early hours of the next day.
The highs and lows of the day highlighted the differences in how martial arts should be taught, and how etiquette and respect is possibly not the highest priority for a few. There are those that give all for little or no return, and others who do not, and will complain until they get the results they want…
Such is life, but thankfully our ICENI Taekwon-do students honour the virtues of Traditional Taekwon-do above all else. We are very proud of you all, your spirit for our club is truely indomitable, and we thank you again.
